One question we hear constantly at Suraksha24: "Should we buy this equipment or just rent it?" The right answer depends less on the price tag and more on how long you'll actually need it. Here's how to think it through.
As a general rule:
Hospital beds are expensive to buy outright and require storage space once no longer needed. For recovery periods under 4–6 months, renting is almost always the smarter choice. For long-term or progressive conditions, buying may make sense — but check whether the bed can be adjusted (electric vs. manual) for changing needs.
For short-term respiratory support during recovery, renting avoids maintenance responsibility and lets you upgrade capacity (5L vs. 10L) as needs change. For chronic conditions like COPD requiring years of use, purchasing is usually more economical — but factor in servicing costs and filter replacement.

Talk to a care advisor no obligation, just a clear next step.
Basic wheelchairs are relatively inexpensive to buy and useful to have on hand even for occasional use. However, specialized wheelchairs (reclining, bariatric, or motorized) are costly — rent first to confirm the right fit before committing to a purchase.
Other costs families often overlook
Maintenance and servicing for owned equipment, delivery and setup charges (some rental providers waive these), sanitization standards for rented equipment, and buyback or upgrade options if a rented device needs to change specification.
If the medical condition is progressive or lifelong, lean toward buying once the right specification is confirmed through a rental trial. If it's tied to a recovery period with a foreseeable end, rent — and redirect the savings toward physiotherapy or nursing care instead.
We offer both sales and rental options with home delivery, setup, and sanitized equipment, and our care coordinators can advise which makes sense for your specific situation — no pressure to buy more than needed.
